Community of Care assists older adults remain in their rural homes as long as safely possible.

Through the support of dedicated donors, volunteers, community members, board of directors and staff, Community of Care provides a wide variety of services.  Each of our programs and services are focused on enhancing the quality of life for older adults in rural Cass County.

Are you an adult child of an aging parent looking for resources to assist your aging parent remain in the homes they love and cherish?  Call our office at 701/967-8502 (Arthur) or 701/347-0032 (Casselton).  Our staff will work with you to find resources to assist your parents.  The following resources and websites will provide valuable information.

  • Do you know where your parents keep their important papers? Do you know if they have life insurance? Do you know their church and pastor's name? Do you know the name and phone number of their financial advisor? These items are a starting point for important discussions with the older adults in your life.

  • Have you taken a careful look at your parents home to review for safely hazards? Are there scatter rugs? Is there adequate lighting? These questions are a starting point to assess their home for safety concerns.

  • Do you know the difference between Medicare Part A, B, C and D? Do you know the difference between Medicare and Medicaid? This list provides an overview.

  • An important part of taking care of an aging loved one is taking care of yourself. These are some helpful hints to care for yourself as a caregiver.

  • The North Dakota State Extension Service has a variety of resources on their website to assist in caring for aging adults.

  • ND Assistive (formerly IPAT) is a non-profit organization that strives to bring assistive technology into the lives of all North Dakotans that need it. Their goal is to help you bridge the gap between ability and disability using assistive technology (AT).
